Young Guns Hockey School

Ages 5-12

August 11-15 & 18-22

Featuring:

  • Participants fully supervised for duration of each school day.
  • Participant / Instructor ratio 10:1.
  • Dynamic off-ice program / chalk talks.
  • Wave pool / Swimming pool for ages 9-12.
  • Team building 'Gladiator Competition'
  • Calgary Hockey Development School jersey
  • Body checking component for Peewee
  • Game Day - Come out and see what your "Young Gun" has learned.
  • Ice sessions focus on individual skills and tactics delivered in a challenging yet safe and comfortable environment.
  • Full day participants receive 2.5 hours of ice daily.
  • Half day participants receive 2 hours of ice daily.
  • This is not a learn to skate program.

Power Camps

August

Power skating with a twist! Power camps are a unique and innovative alternate to traditional power skating camps. Young players will prepare for upcoming tryout camps by practicing to perform at game intensity. This camp will develop and enhance hockey skating mechanics while at the same time effectively implementing player conditioning and creative thinking.

Camps are available for Novice and Atom age players Divisions 1-3 or Division 4 & below.

THIS IS NOT A LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM.

Full equipment is required.

Body Checking Camps

For players born in 1996-97

Body Checking:

Players will review the fundamental steps and learn the necessary skills and tactics needed to successfully give and receive body checks:

  • Contact confidence
  • Danger zone
  • Angling
  • Gap control
  • Reaction space
  • Puck protection
  • Playing the defensive side
  • Reading and reacting to provide puck support

This camp is designed for players experiencing body checking for the first time or those who would like to brush up on their current skills.

Price:

  • $150.00 (including GST)

IMPORTANT:

Please be sure to register for the correct camps based on date of birth and Minor Hockey Association of Calgary team played on in the 07/08 season. Calgary Hockey Development reserves the right to remove a registrant from a camp or move a registrant to the appropriate level of camp. There will be a $15 administration fee charged to your credit card if we need to move your registration to the appropriate level of camp, or if the registrant decides to move to another camp. Program fees will be refunded (less a $25 cancellation fee) for cancellations received by June 1. No cancellations, except those accompanied by a doctor's certificate, will be accepted after June 1.

All registrants will receive a confirmation email when payment is received. However, a registrant is not officially in a camp until another confirmation email is sent out stating approval of the registrant. Please do not push the "back" button during registration to avoid duplication.
